Late Summer Lawn Care Tips

Late summer is not the time to slack on lawn care. Continue your watering and mowing schedule that you have put into place early summer. Here are a few tips for late summer lawn care which will also help you get a jumpstart on fall lawn care.

Aerate

While not a requirement, we suggest using a core aerator to break up any compacted soil. A core aerator pulls up plugs or “cores” of soil from the ground. Once the soil is pulled up from the ground, air vents are created that help your grassroots access nutrients, air, and water. This will In turn give your lawn extra hardiness. We offer Husqvarna core aerators for rent or purchase.

Overseed

If you notice your lawn struggling with thinning grass or bare patches, try overseeding. Overseeding is planting grass seed directly into the existing turf, without tearing up the turf, or the soil. This option is an easy way to fill in bare spots and will help thicken your lawn.
